We’ve made it easier for you

by Jean Rieden, Professional Development & Membership Director

We offer a lot of classes each year. And you can find them all on our website. But how do you find a specific class topic you are looking for or maybe an instructor? We’ve made it easier for you!

We’ve added filters to our Professional Development page on the website, so instead of scrolling through 50+ live classes  and literally thousands of webcasts, you can do a search by live or online classes, keyword, field of interest, city where the class will be held, credits, course level and month.

Say for example you love Pat Garverick’s classes and you want to know what we’ve hired him to teach in 2017. Simply type Garverick in the Keyword box and click search. Voila! You can see three classes that Pat is scheduled to teach in Montana.

Garverick 2

Or perhaps you are looking for advanced level taxation classes, either live or online, you’ll click both the live and online course boxes, add Taxation to the Field of Interest box, scroll to Advanced under the course level box and then search. You’ll discover you have a LOT of options!

Taxation-Advanced 2

And remember, if you log in before you look for classes your registation will be pre-populated for you AND you can easily register others from your office.

I’m always available to answer your questions if you need any help.

P.S. Be sure to buy your FLEX Credits by June 30th. It will save you money on live classes.

It’s a win/win for you AND your clients!

An Update on Jane

Margaret Herriges, Communications Director

We are so lucky to have Jane. As her staff, as the members, as her friends . . . so many of us feel this way. That’s why we wanted to take a moment and give you an update to Jane’s blog post from October when she announced she had cancer.

She finished chemo and the next step was surgery. She underwent a very successful surgery recently and she will be out of the office recuperating for the next few weeks.

We are handling business as normal here at the office—missing Jane—but taking care of things and making sure your member value stays intact. And if you need to discuss is something you’d normally talk to Jane about, please don’t hesitate to contact Jean or me. We’re here for you.

If you’d like to share get well wishes with Jane, email or mail them to the office (1534 Ninth Ave, Helena 59601). We are happy to get them to her. For the next few weeks she will be healing and regaining her strength. Before we know it she’ll be back at it, answering emails and then we’ll look forward to having her in the office once again.

Thanks so much for your concern for our fearless leader. We count our blessings we have Jane as our Executive Director and we wish her all the best as she heals.

Watch for your calendar

The 2014 Professional Development calendars have been sent to all our members in public practice as April 1st (no foolin’). Our BING members received their calendars in February.  This year’s calendar features 60 classes, five conferences and the beautiful photographs by member, Linsay Carlson (AZ Helena) and society staff Jean Rieden.

In addition to live classes, 2,462 webcasts are available for you in 2014. You can find them on our website and if there is something specific you are looking for talk to Jean.

With all these choices we challenge you to take at least one class that excites you; one class that is more than CPE; something that really interests you.  As you look through the course offerings we hope you’ll see opportunity as well as education, and know that it was all selected with your professional development needs in mind.

If you don’t see your calendar in the mail within the next few days give us a shout (800.272.0307) and we’ll be sure to send one your way. As always, all MSCPA classes can be seen online at mscpa.org.
